Ok, this one particular aspect of Japanese male sub-culture is really starting to piss me off. I met most of the junior high school teachers I'm going to be teaching with and almost everyone of them asked me if I have a girlfriend. By itself, this is fine, as I like talking about my girlfriend. The problem is that, once I say yes, they start asking for details. And it's NOT details like, "what sort of things did she like", "was she American", or stuff like that, oooh no, it's stuff like, "was she hot", "what are her measures", stuff like that. No one has asked me directly about more intimate details, but you can see the question in their eyes when they ask anything. Not all of them are like that, it's probably about 50-50, but it's like I'm talking to a bunch of 50 year-old frat boys, who are asking intimate questions about MY GIRLFRIEND.

Thus, I must conclude that male bonding, unless over videogames, movies, politics, or random supermodels and other unattainable objects of sexual desire, SUCKS ASS!!

On a further note, this whole week has been extremely frustrating. I am ready to strangle every kid in this school, and the junior high sports festival today did not help. There's nothing like group-jump-rope and elimination patty-cake in shorty-shorts to the sounds of the "Rejected from Dynasty Warriors 3" and concert band revival renditions of awful J-Pop that gets that murderous rage thing going.
