It has been a pretty long time since I've posted. [livejournal.com profile] chuckro and [livejournal.com profile] jethrien got married this past Saturday, and I just want to summarize the bad and the good from Best Man part in it.

BAD:

1) My camera ran out of battery and I couldn't find my backup

2) My tux got ripped because it was made of cheap crap, and replacing the pants cost another 70 dollars. The lesson? Never rent a cheap tux.

3) The drive there sucked because the Turnpike was backed up.

4) The drive home sucked because I was full of food, I was tired, and it was dark.

GOOD:

1) Nerf guns

2) Saying "Gutentag" and ambushing the groom with said Nerf guns as he steps out of the shower three hours before the wedding.

3) I didn't drop the rings

4) My speech, which I agonized over for 3 weeks prior, went beautifully

5) [livejournal.com profile] chuckro and [livejournal.com profile] jethrien are the most adorable couple I have ever seen. I don't think I've ever seen either of them look so happy.

You done good, kid. Sent off your boy on the right foot, I dare say. Also, really, I hope Chuck pays for his mistake of giving you nerf guns some more. What was he thinking?

I was thinking that my groomsmen would appreciate them far more than cuff links or monogrammed lighters. And I suspect I was right.

Also: The "Guten tag"? Just what I needed. A moment of extreme terror to knock out all of my nervousness.

Yeah, nothing like German to scare the pants off a person. It was used to quite good effect in a preview for Hostel II I saw last night. Craziness.

I'm not saying the guns weren't a nice idea, just, really, you had to have known it would come back to pop you one (or several) soft foam balls in the face.

That was a fantastic speech. I think I said that to you at the time, but it can be repeated quite a bit. Seriously, it was awesome. Funny and touching and totally appropriate to us. You rock.
