I confess that I have a real tough time writing in this thing. I rarely have time to read my friend's page, let alone post silly things. That said, the times in the last few years when I was able to do this regularly generally made me feel better when I was down, more organized when I was frazzled, and more creative in general.

So in an attempt to get used to writing in this thing again, I'm going to start reviewing games again with slight change in the old formula.

Each game will get two reviews: an initial impressions and then a final review after I've either beaten it or gotten sick of it.

This isn't really meant to be valuable to anyone in particular but if anyone draws any interest, I thank you in advance.

Upcoming: Bioshock

It's probably best that I don't try to review things. It would mostly be me bitching about what comic writers or video game designers could have done differently. I'm playing Wild ARMs 4 now, and it's a saddening departure from the rest of the series--not a bad game by any means, but they replaced all the puzzles I enjoyed in the first three with random platforming, and half of the dungeons are filler for a much shorter game.

And don't get me started on the Green Arrow/Black Canary Wedding Special. It caused me such pain, I cannot say...

Yeah, somehow I never got the impression that Black Canary wanted to be married in a white version of her fishnet costume.

And why is the wedding in costume at all?!

And what's with the Snapper hate?

Why did everyone in that comic take their stupid pills that morning? And most of them took their out-of-character pills, too. Why was every currently-published hero invited, but not out-of-print characters (former JLAers, former Birds of Prey, more Green Lanterns, etc)?

But the one that really grates on me? Why does one of the greatest martial artists in the world, whose style is specifically designed to avoid killing, who has a metahuman ability that can easily knock someone unconscious at close range, have no other option but to randomly grab an arrow and kill the man she thinks is her husband?

Because women, even kick-ass superhero women, are silly air-headed things.

Speak not of that travesty.

Also, dude, your dad's characters keep getting axed. Which I realize happens, but -- lamest deaths ever. I mean ... evil Monitors? Oy vey.

Well, at least they gave Duela a proper backstory beyond "Yeah, she's just crazy." My father's original idea was that she was indeed Two-Face's daughter, and hand-waved the continuity problems with her aging in real-time while Robin aged in comic time.

Overall, not as good as the excellent revamp the Calculator got, but much better than the destruction of Mister E. And hey, Hornblower and Bumblebee appeared in the Titans cartoon and are now apparently part of the Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy Doom Patrol.
